every year since 2014, the scripps network has hand-picked a small group of people to embark on a visit to the Dream Home. this elite coterie of DIY mommy bloggers and home decor fanatics get to set foot on the lumber-liquidators-supplied flooring of the cherished Dream Home without having to first win the sweepstakes. they are treated to a one night stay, dinner, and a private tour of the home.

how does one obtain this privilege? i tracked down the 10 of the bloggers in the above photo and contacted each them asking just that. only one of them bothered getting back to me. apparently there is little time for dregs like me when you're one of the elite. here is the response i received:

so what's the catch? they are required to follow-up with a post on their respective blogs about the experience. i read through a few of the posts. they are boring, and patronizing, and filled with photos of the home that are provided by the network. they also all contain links to brian patrick flynn's website.

scripps, why not bestow this gift to someone whose /every/ post is about the Dream Home? someone who proselytizes his devotion to the festive rustic decor and modern mountain flair of the whitefish retreat. every day i sit down at this laptop and craft premium content about the sweepstakes without a single 'sponsored post' disclaimer.

P.S. i couldn't help but notice that last year's group was all women. could be good optics for the network to include some diversity.
